Phoenix Dorset is a social and walking group for single/unattached people with members ages ranging from early 60's to mid 80's.

We are a well established group in the area with a membership of over 120 people and new members joining regularly. We formed in early 2013 having been part of NEXUS; a UK wide organisation that folded late in 2012

We hold a wide range of activities organised by the members themselves, many of which are regular events.

We do regular Wednesday afternoon strolls with a refreshment stop, Friday morning coffee meet-ups with an optional walk afterwards.

We have a full programme of walks at weekends. On Saturdays we typically meet early afternoon and are around 4-5 miles long at a relaxed pace with refreshment stop at some point.

There is often a choice of 2 Sunday walks. One is around 7-8 miles usually meeting late morning at a steady pace with a picnic stop (or sometimes a pub meal) part way round and refreshments at the end. The other usually meets mid morning and is around 9-10 miles at a slightly faster pace with a picnic stop part way round and sometimes refreshments at the end.

From 2021, several ladies started a weekly walk of between 7 and 8 miles which included a coffee stop and picnic taking most of the day.  These walks have continued mostly on a weekly basis and are now offered to the whole group. As the men felt left out they have also started a group for themselves, meeting on an ad hoc basis once some months.

Each 1st Wednesday in the month, we meet for a meal and a drink in a pub somewhere in the Poole/Bournemouth area normally starting at 7:30pm.

Occasionally we visit the theatre, go to concerts and the cinema.

Our book group meets usually on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to discuss an agreed book of the month and enjoy a social gathering.

Our gardening group meets occasionally on an ad hoc basis to discuss topics of general interest and identify and agree outings to places of interest, such as stately homes, formal gardens etc...

As a member you are encouraged to advertise events that interest you and invite others to join you. This can be done through an official communications email. There are usually some who would welcome the invitation.

We are a non-profit organisation and have no national affiliations.
